Hi, I'm Brionna, and I want to help you get even.

In your contracts that is.

I’m here to teach you how to stand your legal ground as a business owner by taking the guess work out of your contracts.

Why contracts? Because, believe it or not, contracts are the area of law where you have the most leverage as business owner.

But in my experience, it’s also the legal area where everyday business owners are most likely to be taken advantage of.

And on paper, I know that those two things don’t make any sense. Because if it’s the place where you have the most leverage, then how could it also be the place where you’re most likely to be taken advantage of?

Easy.

It’s because most of your don’t know you have leverage. But my work is about putting you in the know so together we can level out this uneven (and unfair) playing field.

So how exactly do I put you in the know?

I use a 3-part methodology that anyone, and especially nonlawyers, can learn.

The three steps are:

  • Identify the Context: I teach you how to locate yourself in whatever legal situation you find yourself in by showing you how to look for and identify key context clues that determine how the law works in your particular situation;

  • Understand the Technical: I provide plain language explanations for common legal and contractual terms that you can understand and remember;

  • Apply the Technical to the Context: I act as your thought partner and walk you through how to recognize which legal issues apply to your situation, how to identify your options for addressing each issue, and choose a legal path that makes the most sense for your business.

It’s a simple methodology that’s designed to shift your relationship to the law by getting you comfortable with the idea that the law and contracts are about nuance. Because it was never this or that. Or black and white.

It was always this is possible and so is this.

And once you learn how to think and strategize in this way,

You won’t feel like you have to be a lawyer to stand your legal ground. You’ll just know how to do it for yourself.

So if you’re tired of rolling over and playing dead, come learn how to stand your legal ground with me.

Here are the deets about me

I started my career as a litigator at a fancy law firm defending giant corporations in business deals gone sour. This got boring (and soul sucking) quickly.

Later, I added a startup focus to my practice and began counseling startup founders on legal issues to consider when you’re first building a business. This was a lot more fun. So much fun that I left law firm life to become the second legal hire at an electric vehicle startup. While there, I litigated, drafted and negotiated a lot of contracts, and developed and enforced internal policies and procedures about intellectual property, hiring and firing employees and contractors, and purchasing and procurement.

But as that company grew, I started missing counseling everyday people about their businesses. So I started my own practice on the side where I handled smaller legal issues for solopreneurs, small business owners, and employees.

I closed that practice a couple of years ago to co-found a corporate wellbeing company on a mission to eradicate chronic stress. I’ve completed a couple of trainings (one was a year long and the other was six months) on nervous system regulation.

During that time, lots of entrepreneur friends called me in a panic about contracts. Lots of tears were involved. Lots of fear was involved. And most importantly, I realized that a lot of knowledge about contracts and how the law works was missing.

So I left the world of wellbeing and started The Everyday Lawyer to focus on teaching the law to everyday entrepreneurs because I believe you can manage almost all of the legal issues in your business with the right knowledge.

My goal is to provide you with that knowledge

So, why do I focus on contracts with large companies?

Because that’s where my expertise is. I’ve got key insider knowledge because I’ve been the person writing the contracts and the procedures for vendor onboarding.

But I’ve also been the vendor trying to be onboarded by a large company who makes you jump through a million hoops just to submit an invoice.

I’ve been on both sides of the negotiation table. I’ve worked for the big dog and I’ve been the underdog. I know how tough it can feel to navigate these contracts in a way that makes sense for your business.

So I’m sharing everything I know in a succinct and simple methodology with you so you can get even.
